There is some truth and some bullshitness in everything we believe in, say, write or think. People who only see the truth are either too simple minded or take themselves too seriously. People who only see the bullshitness are too pessimistic. I believe the ability of drawing a line between these two, making fun of the bullshitness and taking the truth seriously is what makes a balanced person! People who don't even understand what I am talking about are those who don't have the ability to see the bullshitness!
As an example consider the act of respecting other people. By respect I don't mean just being polite. I mean seriously respecting them for some reason. You might respect someone (or something) because you believe that person (thing) is respectable and deserves it. You might respect someone (something) else because you know you will benefit from that person (thing) or in an extreme case take advantage of that person (thing). Assuming most people are good enough not to respect others in order to take advantage of them, I would say most of our respects are mixes of both kinds of respect! Therefore, there is some truth and some bullshitness in it!
You can make such examples about many other concepts easily. This is not a post about religion but as a side comment I would say this is the main reason I prefer to have no religion! This doesn't mean I believe religion is bullshit. This means I believe religious people are unable to draw that line! I believe same thing is true about things like science, love, happiness etc.

"This means I believe religious people are unable to draw that line! "
I can't get why?
Just because they believe in a religion?
Because religious people think what they believe in is truly the truth!
How can you determine whether something is the truth or what you call the bullshitness?
In any case, I coundn't disagree with you more about religious people! If I wanted to rank the balanced people I know, using your definition, they would probably be high up on the list! (or maybe I'm one of those people who doesn't even understand what you're talking about ;) I mean they (at least most of them) do think what they believe in is truly the truth and so they take it seriously but they do also make fun of what they "perceive" as bullshitness!
What I am saying is there is some truth and some bullshitness in every individual concept including religion! More clearly, I think religious people believe what they believe in is truly the truth! BUT, they don't really believe in religion because deep inside they know it's truly the truth... They have other motivations and reasons! I call those "other" motivations and reasons the bullshitness!
And once you have a religion it's not you who draws that line, its mostly your religion! Since I believe there is some bullshitness in the whole idea of religion in the first place, I can't let it draw the line for me!
Also there is some truth and some bullshitness in this post as well, so don't take it too seriously;)
If we can't reach the speed of light, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Theoretically, truth truth and pure truth can exist, and if we cannot find a human being going on this road, we can't deny such thing's existence!
Theoritically, you can neither prove nor disprove pure truth exists. It's true we can't deny but we can't count on it either!
حالا چرا اینگلیش؟ :دی
That's a very good question, if you stick with me a little bit I will explain later :D
